People’s Park is Banbury’s first real park, it was opened in 1919 by the then High Steward of Banbury – Lord North of Wroxton Abbey. The park is a place of relaxation, play and peace. This castle was the Oxfordshire base of Odo of Bayeux, half-brother of William the Conqueror and a powerful man in England after the Norman Conquest.
